It’s no secret that Corona Virus is stressful for everyone – but it is without a doubt more stressful for expecting mothers. It is important to manage your stress levels while you are pregnant for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Here are some simple tips you can use to try to manage your stress during this time of self-distancing and quarantines.

Practice Prenatal Yoga

Yoga has many restorative properties – especially when you’re pregnant. That’s why we have taken our yoga classes online for the time being. Studies have shown the positive benefits of practicing yoga while pregnant in the health of the baby.

Yoga can help with body aches and pains due to your changing body.  It also helps prepare your body for childbirth.

Don’t Forget to Breathe

When our bodies feel stress, we start taking shorter, shallower breaths. This causes the oxygen level in our body to decrease, which in turn makes us even more stressed. When you feel stress coming on, make sure you focus on your breath. Focus on deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Limit Your Online Researching

There is a LOT of information online. From mommy blogs to WebMD to the 24-hour news cycle, it’s hard to not be overwhelmed by information – especially during the Corona Virus pandemic. Make sure you are only visiting a few trusted news sources. Also, try to limit the amount of time you spend reading news sources. You want to find a nice balance of staying informed without letting yourself become overwhelmed or worried.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

You don’t have to do it all by yourself and you don’t get bonus points for going through your pregnancy without help. Look to family and friends to support you. Even if it’s just a phone call to talk about what may be worrying you. We are here to be your support team to and through the pregnancy for whatever you may need.

Remember You Are Not Alone

Though you may not be able to meet up with friends and family right now, know you are not alone. Your friends and family are just a Skype call away – and they are likely feeling isolated right now too. We are working round the clock to make sure you have all the resources you need to rock this pregnancy.

Plan Ahead

And we mean plan ahead for everything. Plan your meals in advance so you know exactly what you’ll need when your order your groceries to be delivered. If your family was supposed to come and support your after pregnancy, make sure they have strictly adhered to self-quarantine for 2 weeks before your due date. Planning as much as possible will help you feel more in control and less stressed.
