Since 2013 began, you’ve no doubt been bombarded with articles, new segments, conversations, and Facebook posts all concerning New Year’s resolutions…you may have even made one or two for yourself! We all know the most popular ones; become healthier, manage stress, and spend more time with your children. Resolutions, though helpful, just say what we will do…not how we will get there. I suggest this year that we cultivate New Year’s goals.

A goal is defined as the result or achievement toward which effort is directed. Instead of just expending random effort and quickly losing sight of the growth we have potential for, let’s make a plan! Here at The Motherhood Center, we are dedicated to support and healthy living. There are many ways that we can help you when making your New Year’s goals!

Goal #1 – Be healthier as a result of regular exercise and interaction.

Here at The Motherhood Center we have Yoga for all people, expecting moms, moms with babies, regular classes for parents and other adults, and even kids yoga! Adopting a regular yoga practice has the following benefits:

  • Flexibility
  • Strengthening
  • Reduced Risk of Illness
  • Appetite and Weight Control

Check out our schedule and just come join us! No registration is required.

Prenatal Yoga

If you are a new mom, you know the necessity of healthy sleep so you can care for your new family. We have Baby Nurse Doulas available to provide you with support in home when you have a newborn, and a sleep coach available to help you and your little one establish a healthy nighttime routine

Your emotional health is just as important as your physical health. Please join this year in our New Moms Support Group on Thursdays at 1:00pm. Led by our resident RN and educator Meredith Steadham, this group enables you to find new friends, get questions answered and to know you are not alone in the new journey of motherhood.

Goal #2 – Reduce stress through practicing self-care.

Massage is a well-known and scientifically proven method for reducing levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and increasing the levels of  the ‘feel-good hormones’, serotonin and dopamine. The Motherhood Center offers comprehensive massage services for the whole family. We offer Prenatal, Swedish, Hot Stone, Deep Tissue, Couples, Child and Infant massage.

The many benefits of regular massage include:

  • Pain Relief
  • Immune System Support
  • Stress Management
  • Management of Emotional Issues

For a massage appointment, please call us at 713-963-8880. We have multiple, specially trained therapists that can provide a safe and satisfying massage.

Goal #3 – Spend concentrated and consistent time with your children by scheduling activities the whole family can enjoy.

We make it easy to reach this goal! Our children’s classes begin the second week of January 2013 and we have a great selection of options for children from birth to 6 years old. Our classes are a great way to secure 6, 8, or even 10 weeks of scheduled educational activities you can enjoy with your children!
